DIY Turf War – Bamboo Wins!

I received a “Bamboo Geek” email yesterday, from Sean Bigley’s (madmanbamboo.com) blog, about his recent working with professional landscaper Aaron Cochran of Landscapes by Cochran where they used clumping bamboo in a winning design in the Turf War contest episode “Fire Water vs. Floating Bed”. I was very happy to learn that Aaron Cochran posted the episode on YouTube, embedded below in two parts. Enjoy!

Turf War (DIY Network) – Season 3, Episode 10 – “Fire Water vs. Floating Bed”
Episode Synopsis: While Team 1 builds a stone fireplace that can double as a water feature, Team 2 constructs a pergola and a floating bed. Original Air Date: Jun 2, 2012

“This neglected outdated open space can’t even inspire the homeowners’ pug puppies. By removing outdated pavers and adding a roman stamped concrete patio, and building a stone fireplace that doubles as a fire and water feature, a new wooden pergola structure, and a stone BBQ island to bring this yard up to date. Landscapes by Cochran’s yard is a blank slate filled with their kid’s toys everywhere. Adding a massive pergola with a floating bed in the middle, a natural wood fire pit, and a rock flowing water feature, brings this yard from blank to swank.”
